Established in the nascent years of independent India, The Synthetic & Art Silk Mills’ Research Association (SASMIRA) stands as a testament to visionary collaboration and scientific excellence. Born in 1950 as a cooperative endeavour of the Man-Made Textile Industry, SASMIRA was entrusted with a mission both ambitious and essential—to nurture, develop, and elevate the scientific and technological backbone of a rapidly modernizing industry. From its inception, SASMIRA was more than a research institution; it was a crucible where ideas met innovation. Its far-reaching vision and multifaceted capabilities soon earned the recognition of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) under the Ministry of Science & Technology, and the formal approval of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
